My husband has rectal cancer with met to his sacrum (tailbone). What have you tried? My husband is on folfox w/ avastin and will be on that until late December. He had a PET/CT scan last week and so far it is working but we know that the pain can be very bad with bone met's. Have you experienced any pain. What type is your kidney cancer?

Hello both of you, in same boat want to chat?  my husband too has colorectal cancer with met to his Tailbone, he isn't doing very well these days he has been sick since May of 08 and at stage 4, I don't know what to do for him anymore he tries to get up and around but is mostly in bed he hurts all the time he says. Cea just went up within 2 months from 96 to 144.6 this was news I rec'd today, I feel bad I don't want to tell him because he seems he would get more depressed. How do we cope with all this??? prayers are with you both, I used to get on this board I called it my therapy and things got better but now I feel I am going to loose control since there is nothing more I can do. Thx for listening God Bless to you both and all on this board. PS husband is on Irinotican and Avastin gets every other wk and Xeloda 7 days his last treatment was yesterday can't stand to see him get so sick from this Chemo waiting for it to work,  Take care and hang in there I always try harder waiting on miricle. My husband's kidney cancer has spread to his hip bone.  The only time there is pain is when he stands and tries to walk.  Otherwise, he feels good.  It had previously spread to the liver and pancreas.  Neither sutent or Torisel worked and he opted not to try any further treatments.  We take each day as it comes and some days are good and others not.

Sanlin,   Thank you for responding, we too are getting the leg weakness and my husband is very stuburn and dosn't want to use his walker but has used his cane for some time, I know it is hard adjustment but I don't want to see him fall and get worse he already fell once and I broke few more falls that almost occured. I guess he will know when that time comes I pray for more good days then not, this morning was a good day :-)   we can't do much but when he can go out for bit I cherish these days.  God Bless you and others with our battling Illness.

Cathy

Hi Cathy and everyone,

Cathy when did your husband fist find out about the met to the tailbone?

My husband found out in Feb. he is on Folfox/Avastin. every other week. with the 48hr infusion pump. The last two weeks he had to cancel was feeling really bad. Lots of diarrhea and was just so cold and shaking week could not walk. The Dr. said he will lower the oxil. on his next visit which is Wednesday. Is your husband going to try for any surgeries?

Sorry I forgot to add, my husband is not able to have surgeries his tumor is to large and on his nerves lower tailbone, he can't even have radiation due to him having it yrs ago they said he had the max of it and can cause worse symptoms and cause more pain with nerve damage, Dr stated IF his tumor shrinks very small surgery may be option but he has never seen one shrink small enough they are only keeping it from growing and pushing to shrink with no luck.  I pray for you both with your appt tomorrow ours is Monday I dred it but can't wait to see if there is more to offer.  Take care!
