hole in neck

Hi-

I did write before but wondering still if anyone has experienced developing another hole in neck( not the drain holes, but a new boil type thing that popped and then showed a hole) so when swallowing is attempted everything comes out hole?

If anyone has had this experience, I would love to know what you did about it, or how long it stayed?  Discouraging...

Hello Toller,

This is probably no help, but a good friend of mine, who has Crohn's disease, gets fistulas. He takes remicade to avoid them or help heal them when they occur. I have no idea if this could help, but you could look into it.

Thank you Steve,

No medicine..went to surgeon today.

The surgeon is saying the hole will close on its own but takes time and meanwhile takes a daily packing kind of dressing.

I asked about dilitation but it seems that my husband's hole is not large enough!

Just waiting til he can eat again!

I developed a leak in my incision on left side of neck while in the hospital, went home with leak and had home care teach me to pack; the leak healed in 3 weeks but I did go back to the surgeon during that time and he made the hole a little larger so that it did not close prematurely and made sure that it healed from inside first. It was discouraging as food was coming out of the hole, so I had to continue with my J Tube feedings but I was able to eat without problem after the hole healed.

Thank you for responding.

It was helpful to hear that someone else experienced this problem.

My husband got the same treatmentyou describe and we wait for the healing now.  The drainage has slowed down a lot.
