Are There Any Treatments in Canada

I am a 49 year old Canadian woman that has been told I have metastatic renal cancer in my lungs. I had a kidney removed 12 years ago with no follow up treatment because they were so sure they got it all. I was told at the time they were surprised it wasn't in my lungs. They were wrong. This round of cancer was discovered by accident. I had a stomach bleed from anti-inflamitories for tendonitis, and the x-ray showed 9 small pea sized nodules. I have had all the scans, biopsies, ultrasounds and blood work and it is nowhere else except the lungs. I am completely asymtomatic. I had done a great deal of research and thought there was hope because of all I had read on this site and many other sites, until I was told there is nothing available to me in Canada but interferon and was told that it rarely works. The only thing I was told was to go home and hope it grows slowly. Does anyone out there know of anything available to me in Canada other than a pat on the hand and wish of good luck.

I'm fairly new to RCC (diagnosed in 12/04). Also, I'm not sure what is available in Canada but I have had success. If you will go to the message board under "Success Stories" and look for the one from Bunker you will see my progression with a new experimental drug. My doctor predicts thathis drug may be approved by Feb. Hope this helps.

Yes, there are other treatments at some centers in Canada. There is an email support list specific to renal cancer. Join it at http://cancerguide.org/kofaq/. There are many Canadians on that list who can give you specifics.
