International Treatment ?

Can anyone advise of any experience with treatment at clinics in either Switzerland or Germany?   My mother's oncologist is considering sending her to Switzerland for treatment.  I have no idea how much this might all cost, how we make arrangements, etc.    Her oncologist has sent patients to Switzerland before but I don't have insight into arrangements my father and I will need to make.

any guidance would be so much appreciated.

Laurie,

You need to know what facility, then contact them directly.  They will have cost typically in the local currency.  You will need to check the exchange rate and there are usually some bank fees as well.  The hospital should have some information about local hotels.  Your oncologist should be able to put you in touch with others who have been and talk with them.  They will be able to help not have to recreate the wheel so to speak.  I just got back from tx in the Nl.  They were not accecpting new patients but that may have changed.  They typically use 4 tx of Lu 177.  The cost was 10,000 EURo's, which at that time was about 14,000 US.  If you look online you may be able to get some flight/motel deals that can really save some money.  Also check out OCTOPUS TRAVEL.  I used them and was happy with them as well.  There are also some free flight possibilities, look on the carcinoid.org website.
