Well I've been Positive for HPV for 3 1/2 years I've had two colposcopies and biopsys done I recently had my colposcopy biopsy done 08/18/09 but this one was different from the last, it was more lonlier, scarrier and painful then the last... My husband wasn't allowed in the room... But before I had my colposcopy I had my annual pap which of course came out abnormal , she told me that no STDs was found but she scheduled me in for a colposcopy a few weeks later ... I wasn't worried to much over the procedure b/c I've had it done b4 but this one was more painful and bloody she told me my cervix was inflamed and when she cut a piece out for the biopsy I felt the cut and the blood pouring down... I cried like a baby.... Then she told me the spotting was normal but this was no spotting, it stopped over night but the next day the blood was pouring like a catagory 5 hurricane , my period was due on the 08/25/09 but the blood kept coming until 08/25/09 I'm wondering a few things 1:did the procedure trigger my period? 2: when can I stop having the colposcopy done? 3: is there another procedure that I can do that will be better equipped then the colposcopy? 4: I wanted to know if the HSG dye was better then the colposcopy?... The results for the colposcopy came back fine but I was wondering can this procedure determine if I have tissue damage? I want to have kids and I'm just afraid there's a problem with my tubes

Take a Breath, you are going to be fine. Once you have HPV, you will always have it. It never goes away, but your body can fight it off to the point where it is not infecting your cervical cells.

Colposcopies can not trigger your period, they don't go near the uterine lining. That is all hormones, although being stress out can cause a change in your hormone levels.

You will be able to stop having colposcopies once you have had a couple of negative papsmears. If another abnormal appears, then you will have another coloposcopy. You can always ask if you could have a LEEP done. It is a better treatment for destroying the abnormal cells. Colposcopies are maining for finding out what is going on, and not necessarily treating it.
