Making Chemo More Effective

I have been a Cll patient with Richter's Transformation for 36 months and have been doing some research on the treatment of the disease.

This present article in Cancer Compass on Glucose and Glutamine dated 08/26/09 explains the necessity of tumors appetite for Glucose. Since this is so and proven in PET scans I have had my Chemo (FCR) mixed with Dextrose 5% (similar to Glucose) as a vehicle rather then saline solution. By fasting for a day to lower the glucose levels in the blood the cancer cells are "hungry" and as in the PET scan these cancer cells "suck up" the dextrose along with the chemo thus making the chemo more effective is the logical outcome of such a strategy. I had 4 CM long swelled lymph nodes by the time the chemo was in the third day of infusion all swelling disappeared and the area was back to normal.

Also to overcome the effects of the "sloughing of of the mucus lining" in the GI tract, mouth and lungs I have been taking Lactobacillus Rasmosus GG (LBGG) a pro-biotic which is a human bacteria. The (dry) feeling in the gut after chemo vanishes within 12 hours if one consumes two 8 oz portions in that period. All regularity returns soon after. It is advised that one take this yogurt daily for several weeks after treatment of chemo. LBGG is sold under the brand name Culterelle Pro biotic and is available at Target and Walmart.

The antibiotics and anti viral drugs which patients are asked to take as a prophylactic to ward off bacteria and virus are not needed. Also taking such drugs only further weaken the immune system. See CLLtopics.com "Let them eat yogurt" for info. Note if you choose to take the LBGG yogurt do not take the antibiotics or antivirals.
