Mom's pet results

Hi all,

I have posted a few messages here for help and got many good suggestions. I check this site every day and really appreciate all the help I have got.

Mom was dx with stage IV EC, squamous cell in April. In early May, she had the stent placed in to help her swallow. Ever since then, she started to have excruciating pain from both chest and back. After a few tests, she finally started radiation in June, and chemo in July (palliative dosage of Taxol only). Two days ago, she had a PET scan done. With only one cycle of chemo, her responses were excellent. Her esophageal tumor shrank (not sure the %), the nodules in lungs are stable (several <5mm in both lungs), some lymph nodes involved before are now resolved, other lymph nodes significantly decreased in indensity and decrease in size too. There is nothing in her spine which could contribute to her back pain. Her doctor ordered MRI to find out what might be causing her back pain. Mom has not been able to sleep on her back for over two months. She had been sitting on the glider for a while. I just bought her an adjustable hospital bed, but it is positioned to the highest. Has anyone experienced such pain? I suspect it is the stent causing the trouble, but am not sure.

Thanks and best wishes to all.

May

No suggestion for pain, but the results were good! You must be delighted things are moving in the right direction.

I don't know about stents either.  Perhaps a nerve is being affected.  Check with the doctor to see if they can re-position the stent somehow.  Will be praying for relief.  Good to hear she has made such progress thus far.
