Hey Karen,
Fantastic news! That's wonderful. My husband is coming up to his six month PET/CT scan, so sounds like you two are on about the same trajectory. He had his colon resection on March 9 and declared Stage IV that day.
I hope he too will remain NED come mid September. He did have some issues with his chemo -- headaches and cognitive challenges. I was thinking the worst -- a met to his brain. But the scans came back clean and he's since been given a small chemo brake from the Oxy. He's still on Avastin and Xeloda, though. If the next PET/CT scan is NED, his oncologist will consider giving him a short brake off all chemo for a couple of months, and then start in on some new combination.
In the meantime, Alan is gaining weight and hungry (on his week off Xeloda) and still working light duty nearly every day, and that now that he's off the Oxy for the time being, his headaches have stopped and he's got his mind back.
So, for a man that should be dead and buried about now -- at least according to one evil doctor's prognosis -- he's doing pretty good... Looking very much alive to me. I trust you're also in the same boat too? NED and lets keep it that way!
Anyway, thanks for sharing this FANTASTIC news Karen. It gives patients like my husband hope. Let's beat this monster!
