Sept 04-07 I had the whiple procedure for the RCC in the front of my pancreas.  Nexavar in 2 weeks broke me out red all over my body. Lost my hair in the back and sides.  They told me 8 months that I have the same thing at the tail of my pancreas.  I have been very sick every  since the surgery.  Toots that smell very mad, wight lost down to 104 lbs,I hardly leave the house because of the toots.  In April I was so sick and had so much pain I lost 21 lbs then.  I would like to have Chemo for the tail before it really starts growing.  I see the heart Dr. on the 3rd then I am going to the Dr. to see if she will talk with my Cancer Dr. at KUMC to see if I can have Chemo.  I would rather be sick for a couple months instead of 2 years.  It is getting to me.  I have no life like I am living.  I won;t give up but I am very down and tired right now.  I am even anemic. Has anyone had such as I am discribing.  Please help me and tell my what you would do.

Hi LucyLou,

I wish I had some magic words that would help you in some way, but I really just don't know what to say.  This cancer is really a rollercoaster ride.  There are lots of ups and downs.  My husband has stage IV RCC with mets to lungs, lymph nodes, and brain.  We know one thing for sure:  tomorrow is uncertain, and yesterday is gone, so we try to take things one day at a time and just do the best we can each day.  Sometimes when we try to look at the whole picture, what lies ahead, it is so frightening and intimidating that we've developed a "let's prepare for the worst but hope for the best" outlook.  We're not in denial, but we do still have hope even in the bleakest situation.

I wonder why the surgeon didn't remove all of your pancreas when you had the Whipple?  I hope the doctors can find something that will help you and that you will feel much better soon.  I'm sorry I don't have any great words of wisdom for you other than just take one day at a time and get through each day as it comes.  That's what we are doing.  I will sure be keeping you in my prayers.

Blessings,

Nancy
