Depends where you live.

We live in Massachusetts. You can not be denied health insurance with a pre-existing condition. Not sure, but there may be a six month wait before they have to cover the pre-exisitng condition.

Tha laws vary state to state in the US, even with a federal program like Medicare.

We do an alternative form of healing. Looks strange I know, but I know several folks with MM who are in remission or whose counts have dropped dramatically. One woman comes to class weekly and used only tong ren to treat and her doctors told her she was in remission about a month ago. They are trying to talk her into a transplant which she wants no part of.

Can find info on tong ren at www.tomtam.com

Can participate in live class over internet, go to class if you live in area where they are held, or use conference calls. The work is provided on a donation basis, so you have nothing to lose.

My husband was dx'ed with stage 4 esophageal cancer in December 2005. He has been in remission several times and has had long breaks out of treatment. They gave him 6 months at the start. His oncologist is blown away repeatedly by his response and how well he does when he undergoes very aggressive chemo. His response is very atypical of EC.

Good Morning Hopeful;

Is there anyway i can get cancer insurance if I have smoldering-myeloma?

If you mean life insurance. All the forms I have seen ask the same basic questions: Have you been hopitalized in the past XX  months for..., or have you lost work due to..., or are you presently being treated for..., any of the following conditions: AIDS, cancer, diabetes, etc.

I have been told that if you are symptom free for two years that you don't have to report it. But bear in mind, you're playing their game with their rules but you're using your money. Do you really think you're going to come out of this equitably?

Take care;

Kevin

Many years ago, I tried to get life insurance and was denied.  The reason:  I have lupus, even though I was in remission.

Now I also have MM and doubt very much if I could get life insurance.

My suggestion is to search the internet or call a local independent insurance agent, who can help you. Whether you're looking for health or life insurance, they will find out for you.

Good luck.

Lois

Kevin,

Your information is incorrect.  The answers you provide to the questions have nothing to do with how long you have been symptom-free.

Rather, your answers have to do with the time period the particular question is inquiring about, ie, "Within the past 10 years, have you been treated for, had any symptoms of, treatments for or told by any physician that you have or had  cancer?  If yes, please provide all details."

Obviously, if you had treatment for some cancer five years ago you must answer this question 'Yes' and provide details; you cannot answer 'No' because you have not had symptoms for the last 2 years.

If, on the other hand, your cancer was 13 years ago with no treatment or symptoms for 11 years, then your answer would correctly be 'No'.

Good Morning Poppy;

As it turns out the credit manager I was dealing with also has myeloma.

Just food for thought, but do you know if this fellow was able to get any life insurance through a perk or "benny" offered by his company.

Take care;

Kevin

Good Morning Joan;

Obviously, if you had treatment for some cancer five years ago you must answer this question 'Yes' and provide details; you cannot answer 'No' because you have not had symptoms for the last 2 years.

And if you intentionally lie to obtain the insurance you not only void the contract, but you leave yourself or your beneficiaries with the possibility of a lawsuit for making false claims.

If, on the other hand, your cancer was 13 years ago with no treatment or symptoms for 11 years, then your answer would correctly be 'No'.

But with survival rates increasing it will be only a matter of time before these sharks increase their time period also.

As I've said many times before: God has a special place reserved in Hell for insurance company executives!

Take care;

Kevin

Hello all,

Sorry if I did not explain myself better...I was trying to
see if there is a difference in the class I fall in since I'm smoldering
.

There is a chance I may not cross over to full
MM.

I'm on no treatments and I'm stable at this
time.

Regards,

Hopefully
