Hi there,
My husband was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer on March 9 with one lymph node that could not be resected and "seeding" to his retroperitoneaum. He's been NED for the past two PET/CT scans and will be due for a third three month scan in mid September (another two weeks).
He's had issues lately with headaches (nothing found) and the occassional nose bleed. He's always had a mysterious penis pain for several month -- and the doctors don't seem to know what's going on there. He's been to see both an oncologist and a urologist for the penis issue.
A few hours ago -- and of course after the oncologists office closed for the day -- he started bleeding from the penis when urinating. He refuses to go to emergency as it's always a long, arduous and tiring thing to do -- too many "uninsured there blocking up the wards -- a huge issue in Southern California that makes Canadian ERs look like a cake walk. In any case, Alan rather wait at home in relative comfort and go to the doctor tomorrow. That being said --- meaning my husband's being stubborn and I can't blame him as going to the ER whether you have insurance or not, is no picnic --- has anyone here experienced this issue as a part of chemo?
I'm clearly concerned, but it could once again be a false alarm. Indeed, Alan was having severe headaches a week ago (which have since cleared up) and neurological problems (also cleared up) and his oncologist has since stopped the Oxyplatium for the time being. My husband is still on Avastin and Xeloda. Any advice would sure be appreciated.
