Macrophages May Contribute To Survival Of Multiple Myeloma Cells

A new study in the journal Blood investigates why myeloma cells often fail to respond to the chemotherapy intended to kill them. The study reports that macrophages found in bone marrow may be keeping multiple myeloma cells from dying.

As always, interesting article you found.

'Finally, biopsies performed by the researchers show that macrophages were scarcely found in the bone marrow of healthy controls but did heavily infiltrate the bone marrow of myeloma patients.'

In your opinion, any thoughts on how we can decrease these macrophages within our blood? Diet, meds, alternatives?

My white counts are always low due to the chemo and the cancer. If they're a sub group of the whites it would stand to reason that they should be proportionately low also. Obviously not.
