Hi,
So, I went is as scheduled mentally and physically prepared for the Pelvic Exenteration. I knew it was a 10 - 14 hour surgery so I knew when I woke up in recovery 3 hours later, something didn't go as planned. I was told cancer was found in my lymph nodes, thus they couldn't continue with the surgery. Although, they were able to find a clean margin to focus on indicating the procedure would have been a success.
My last internal radation treatment was Feb 4 which is how long my Oncologist is guessing the lymph nodes have been diseased. What I do know is I'll need additional and different chemo than before to tackle the new cancer while continuing to focus on the tumor. I'll find out more next Tuesday at my follow up appointment.
Has anyone been in this situation or know of anyone?
Thanks,
Karleene
