I am recovering from the Whipple procedure now. My surgery was done in October 2005 and took 12 hours to complete. Two days after surgery my left lung colapsed and I was on a vent for 14 days. Needless to say, I almost didn't make it. Recovery has been slow but we are making progress. I will start radiation soon and additional chemo. If anyone has tips on how to make radiation easier please let me know.

HI,

The are of your stomach where the whipple was performed is going to get the radiation. I found eating cookies and crackers helped keep my stomach from getting upset during Radiation.

Hope this helps.

You should visit the pancreatic cancer discussion board of JHH. Many PC-patients and caregivers visit the site every day and are most willing to share their experiences with you.
