Just found hope!

Hi all,

Firstly I just want to thank everyone who replied to me - I was overwhelmed by the number of replies and by all of your sincere advice and prayers. My father got his scan results yesterday and thankfully, in the circumstances, we got the best news we could have hoped for - the cancer hasn't spread, the tumour is still on the liver but hasn't grown and in fact may have got smaller. the oncologist said my father is a changed man since the man he met back in April and is delighted with his progress. He admitted that it was touch and go in April as to whether he was going to allow my dad chemo as he didn't think he was strong enough for it but thankfully we have a wonderful family doctor who argued for it and the oncologist said yesterday that he was so glad that they made the decision to go ahead with the treatment. he is going to have one more week of chemo next week and then hopefully he will have a break for two months or so before the next round of scans and probably more chemo. we are just over the moon - while the cancer is still there im just hoping that it might be now something he can live with and that chemo every couple of months will just become a part of life. In April a nurse said to us that my dad would never travel again (one of his passions) but now yesterday he was cautiously suggesting going to France for a week (we live in Ireland so are deprived of sunshine!). I just spoke to him there on the phone and he was out trying to fix a light I broke on the car - I never thought I'd be happy having him give out to me! we couldn't have even dreamed he'd be doing that a few months ago - he just was so weak.

I've found some hope! Thanks again - wishing you all the best.

I am so glad that your father is doing well. My mother was very weak too before chemo. Her onc asked us whether we wanted to start her on chemo. I too am glad that she did it. Her response to chemo was good.

Never lose hope. I am very happy for your father. Even though chemo might be part of his life, there is a life to live.

Please keep us udpated on your father's status. God bless!

May

I am so glad you are feeling more hopeful now.  Yes, you did get a great response to your question and I concur with all the rest.  Never give up hope.  We will be watching to see how things turn out.

I am glad you are feeling better about things and that your dad is doing better. There is always hope, even if you can't see it at times. Hang in there and whenever you need we are here for you.
