Side Effects of Lupron Shots

i would like to know side effects of the 3 month shot of lupron . my dad has had 3 shots and is due for his 4th shot the end of jan.. he is 79 and has hardly any energy. he goes to bed and gets up every little bit. he does not have much appetite. his legs hurt him a lot and he is very weak. he had surgery a year and a half ago. he would like to know what the side effects to lupron are. the dr. said his bone scan was ok. he put him on fosamax. we haven't been told what stage the cancer is. totesguy

I have been on 3 month lupron shots for over 4 years. For about the first year I had very strong side effects, especially fatigue, hot flashes, itching (mostly lower legs), and impotence. I no longer experience fatigue or hot flashes or itching, but of course the impotence remains, since Lupron reduces testosterone levels to very minimal. I exercise, mostly through sports, but sometimes by working out, every day. If I didn't get a lot of exercise and keep in good shape, I'm not sure that the fatigue problem would have stopped, so I think exercising may be very important to maintain energy. I suggest he check with his Dr. to to see what the Doc recommends re regular exercise and good nutrition. If he isn't eating well, that also could contribute to fatigue. Pat K
