hi , my mother is 53 yrs old ....she has been diagnosed with cancer of stage 3b. it was in her ovaries and had gone to the omentum. she went through the surgery who removed the uterus , the ovaries , the masses along the ovaries , and partial omentum .Befoe the surgery the gynae had informed about the possibility of cancer , but it was just a possiblity as both ca125 and cea tests were negative. after meeting the oncologst , we're suggested by them that one more surgery has to be done ,to remove the full omentum ,lymph nodes followed by 6 chemo's . Meanwhile , there's cancerhistory in our family and chemo's has proved to be fatal .on the other hand , their is Ayurveda treatments which claim to cure the same without surgery or chemo's. we need urgent direction , and precautions , and guidane for the same ..
thank you

Dear Arjun you are in a difficult position. I would have the further surgery and only 6 chemo's and not more.  Surgery is still the #1 Cure for cancer if it is successful. (I used to do gynecology oncology) I have survived to bouts of incurable cancer by using 95% natural means so I believe in that very strongly. Myself I had radiation and no chemo. 6 should be tolerable if not too strong.

Your other option is to find about all you can for natural healing for Ovarian cancer and that is a difficult cancer. www.cancercenter.com is a wonderful resource as they do both. the biggest problem is the type of insurance they accept. Go to their website and there is an 800 # or live chat. Your mother is young so there is a chance that the results by doing natural can help.  Ask the doctor if he/she has proof the cancer is in the lymp nodes before having them removed as that can cause a problem later.

Take care and I will send you a private message  mms

My thoughts and prayers are with your family during this time.  I was diagnosed with Stage IV Ovarian Cancer in Augus '07, given two weeks to live...As you can see, I surpassed my two year mark recently.  I feel credit is to be given to my surgeon who performed a complete hysterectomy, as well as my oncologists...and last, but not least, God.  I currently am receiving Abraxane and Avastin, and after receiving four treatments, my CA125 has decreased from 780 to 242! (This is my fifth chemotherapy...so there is hope in finding the one that works.).  It is not an easy road, but tell your mother to stay strong and not give up...FIGHT!   Good luck to you and your family!

Hi friend,

You may feel comfortable getting another opinion, but do not delay immediate treatment.  Ovarian cancer spreads very, very quickly.  You should be seeing a gynecological oncologist, preferably at a teaching hospital.  Chemo is rough.  Advise your doctor and chemo nurses of your family history and fears and ask how the chemo will be administered and what will they do if your mother has a problem?

I am age 67,  in remission following surgery and chemo, taking part in an Avastin trial.  Will be nearly 18 months of treatment since diagnosis, but I am back to work and finding new paths to explore every day.

Best wishes and peace to you and your family,

Annes

I am very sorry to hear about your mother. I have ovarian cancer also and have had two surgeries. My ca 125 is being checked every three months.  My cancer is a stage 2 boardering on stage 3. I have completely changed my diet. No animal protiens or sugar in my diet. I have found my protein in beans, lentils, peasoup, nuts, quiona. I did this for the first two months and now have chicken, fish, and eggs once a week. My ca125 is now 8. She might want to try this. It can't hurt. My best wishes & prayers to you, your mother and family.
