Dear Zoesmom: sorry you have had no replies. It is a holiday weekend and most people who do answer are resting or away. The vet is correct, serious infection or possilbe cancer. Do what we do in the human world get a second opinion. There is something that helps animals with cancer go to www.polymva.com and select polymva for pets.
In the meantime get on the net and search everything you can on Dog bladder and urninary tract infections. Here is an article that might help.

Please, I posted the other day and I desperatly need someone to talk to. I'm searching for answers and finding nothing. My 9 yr old sm breed mix, Zoe, started with a bladder infection. Two days of being on amoxi she was peeing burgandy colored blood and passing clots. I called the vet and they told me that her body had a bad infection and she was riding herself of it. And they said that can happen. Well, bleeding stopped. Within a couple of weeks of being off the meds...another one started.....or the vet said that it is possible that she was not on the meds long enough...so he put her back on amoxi for 14 days. Her belly was getting upset and there was a lot of panting. He took her off that and she is now on Baytril and pain meds. I brought her to get her urine checked the morning (she had been up all night panting and pacing, that was when they put her on pain meds) after she started the Baytril...a lot of white & red blood cells and some bladder cells.the vet said it could be due to the bad infection or bladder cancer. I'm a mess. She kept telling me that if it was bladder cancer the outlook was not good. What do I do? I don't know where to turn. She is getting re-check at the end of next week and i am fearing the worst. Can bladder cells be found when there is a bad infection? Does it always mean cancer? Please some help!!
