Congradulations on your completion of chemo and radiation. The surgery is pretty tough not gonna lie. Theyll probally make a incision across your lower pelvis area and take the tumor part of the rectum out. I would imagine you will also need a illistomy bag till your rectum heels wich is about 3 months. Hopefully it wont be longer which can happen if you have a stricture where they reattach the rectum to the colon. Hopefully they can save the spincter muscle so you dont need a permament illiostomy.
After you are all back together is a tricky part with you are now left with no rectum to store your stool. So expect to go to the bathroom alot!!!  You will probally want to see a nutritionist and uses enemas to flush your colon out if you are going to be away from the bathroom for a few hrs. Hope that helps good luck..
