Hello John M,

First of all, yes the message board is still open and very active. There have been many, many message logged in after February 9, 2009.

Next, You message is quite broad...if you want information beyond what your doctor has passed on...Google it and you will be on over-load in minutes.

I see you mentioned VN era...I assuming you know already there is a very good chance to contracted this illness through a parasite in the water. I assuming you are aware Bile Duct Cancer (Cholangiocarcinoma) is a very slow growing illness (like 20/25 years to surface) and when it does it's usually in late stages.

My wife was diagnosed with CC in 2003. She is doing pretty well, but not good. She discovered it early through her annual physical, she was very lucky. We visited Japan 25 years prior to her being diagnosed and yes she was not a drinker...she drank only water and I drank only alcohol. I didn't get the parasite and if it did enter my body through other means the alcohol handled it. I'm not a doctor, but I have spent the last 6 years learning all about it. And as  care-giver, well lets just I have a lot of information when the time comes.

In the meantime, Good Luck with this issue...Take it serious.

Take care...Leonard from Alamo, California

John,

I also had the cholangiocarcinoma.  Mine was found where the bileduct meets the small intestine or duedenum.  The result was a whipple procedure.  This occured in June 2006.  I am 25 lbs less in weight, and have minor digestion issues, but all in all I am fine. Are you going to have this surgery?  My name is George and I was 42 when I had the surgery.

Good luck. I was diagnosed 8/2007 and after a successful liver resection,

I am doing good. I recently had a scare, but the new spot the doctors feel are a normal liver lesion and not the cancer back.

Stay positive and keep fighting.

This will be short. My Whipple surgery is tomorrow am. I am to be in the Hosp for 10-12 days then radiation theropy afterwards.

Thanks for the vote. So far I am OK and not beat down yet anyway. Tomorrow is the day and we will see.

I will be back in a cpl of weeks hopefully.
