Pain--please help?

My husband was dx'd in Dec 08 with large left kidney mass with mets to both lungs & his liver.  When they first dx'x him he had some pain in his lower back.  He started sutent in Jan & took 2 rounds.  It didn't work so they switched him to torisol.  He has been taking that since April.  Scans in July showed shrikage in all areas but the kidney.  So the Dr kept him on the same treatment.  The last 2 weeks he has been in pain...in the lower back.  We thought is was from the tumor in the left kidney but the Dr thinks it might be coming from his bone.  We go this afternoon for a MRI & we have ct scans on the 15th to find out if this treatment is still working.  Does anyone else have this pain or have any pain?  I read somewhere that kidney cancer doesn't cause much pain..is this true?  any help would be appreciated.

i have been dealing with bladder cancer the last year, cancer free now, but my back always hurt, they said it wasn,t associated with what i had, but never hurt before, still hurts me if i exert myself much or stand along time, if it gets bad, i take 750 loratabs, i try and not do that, but was occasions where i was eating them like candy and chasing them with rum, til i found out they cause constipation, so now just try and not do too much, in fact my back is killing me today, had chemo today and hurt just getting in the chair and back out, only thing i can say is they did find cysts in my kidneys during all the tests, may be what causes it, doctors do not know everything sometimes

just read your message again, my cancer spread to the ribs, and yes , very painful, if it spread to his bones , you bet it hurts, hurts bad, i still survived on Loratabs for this also, cancer had ate one rib up bad, it still hurts, but like arthritis, hurts on cold rainy days. i try and just deal with it, pain pills just make it harder to recover, makes you weak

Kidney cancer in its early stages is not very painful that why its hard to catch before it has spread. Even through the opoid painrelievers do cause constipation and other side effects, being in severe pain  interfers with with every aspect of fighting this diease. Your cancer dr, or a pain specialist will be able to work out a regimin to make the patient as comfortable as possible

I had my left kidney removed 22 years ago. thought I was done with it but they have just diagnosed the cancer in my lung and brain. they gave me radiation for the brain and now taking nexavar for the lung. i had no pain for the 22 years. hopefully this will continue. i still play tennis almost every day. the medication make me less competitive but at least i am playing.
