Need Prostate Cancer Radiation Oncologist

Hello,

My cousin was diagnosed with prostate cancer in April 2009 (PSA of 5.4, gleason 9 with no seminal vescicle or lymph node invasion and negative surgical margins) and the cancer was just outside the prostate capsule.

He had a robotic prostatectomy in May of 2009 and has had two ultra sensitive tests conducted since then (0.016 and 0.010 respectively).

He has decided to do IMRT radiation.  Of course, the radiologist has a lot to do with the success of the treatment.  The question now is "Who is the best PROSTATE radiation oncologist?"

He has narrowed it down to Dr. Benjamin Movsas of Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit Michigan and Dr. Jeffrey Forman in  Pontiac Michigan.

If any one out there has any information on either one of these doctors, good or bad, PLEASE let me know.

If you know a prostate radiation oncologist in Michigan that's better than the two mentioned above, PLEASE let me know as well.

Desperate in Michigan and need your help.
Thank you

 Hi,

I'm sorry to hear about your cousin. As I'm sure you are aware of - this is a very serious gleason score. I only have a couple of minutes right now but as I've been on this same journey this past year with my husband - I've found that the best resource I've found is the following link with Ustoo.org for information et.

Go here, sign up and ask under EBRT community and ask.

 General Information: http://www.ustoo.org/Prostate_Pointers.asp

EBRT: http://www.prostatepointers.org/mailman/listinfo/ebrt

They are a group of patients/caregivers that are  an incredible wealth of resources and information. They know more than any one MD we've ever come across in our PCa journey.

Also, can try Physician to Patient link (P2p) and ask Dr. Stephen Strum. He is the most knowledgeable MD I've ever found on PCa. A truly gifted Oncologist specializing in PCa. A must book to read is one he wrote "A Primer on Prostate Cancer: The Empowered Patient's Guide" (Paperback)

Quickest bet may be: Leader of Ustoo in Witicha. This man has an Incredible amount of knowledge and probably can refer you to someone who knows if he doesn't.
