Bleeding Lower GI---Fever

Hi!  My husband had horrible bleeding on Sunday night that apparantly came from his lower GI tract.  They have admitted him to the hospital & we are waiting for the stomach Dr to come in.  Last night he started running a fever of 103 & today it has stayed around 100.  He also was coughing alot late yesterday so this is probably where the fever is coming from. His cancer in his left kidney, liver, & both lungs.  A recent MRI last week showed a spot on his lower spine. His cancer Dr came in this morning & has ordered CT scans of his chest, ab, & pelvic.  It was already time for these scans but the Dr told me yesterday he did not want to do them until we could get him to the office so he could compare them to the scans they did in July. But when he came in this morning & I told him about the fever he ordered them to be done & he was surprised the stomach Dr ahs not been in yet.  Has anyone had this bleeding problem before in their lower Gi tract?  I am a little worried something is going on & I am afraid what the scans will tell us...please respond.

My husband has mets to the lower stomach that bleed every once in a while. The doctors have been able to stop the bleeding with endoscopies and sealing off the leaking areas.  He has needed frequent transfusions during these times.  There is no pain and the only way we know there is bleeding is by dark stools and usually his hemoglobin drops quite low. Hope this helps.
