Newly Diagnosed

I am 62 years old and thought I might have gall stones and/or something going on with my bladder.  My PCP sent me for an ultrasound and called me today to say it's not my gall bladder but probably ovarian cancer.

I have not seen the oncologist yet so I don't know any more specifics.  I have a tumor, he said, in my abdomen but my liver appears to be okay.

I have pain in the middle of my upper abdomen, just below my bra line.  This, however, is not the tumor, as it is much lower.  My doctor is puzzled by this but the oncologist can probably explain it when I see him.

One of the tumors - I think the one in my abdomen - is 2 inches, which sounds really large to me.  Is the fact that I am experiencing pretty much unrelenting pain a really bad sign?  So far it is fairly well controlled with Vicodin.

It's possible that this is from the ascites in your tummy pushing against other organs, etc.  I have a similar pain just below my rib cage, but the Dr. can't explain why as the small tumor is not near it.  Just one of those mysteries.  I'd be interested in knowing what your oncologist will say.

Good luck with this, and get back to us.
