I was told that people with ovarian cancer are elegible for disability payment/insurance. Does anyone know anything about  this? I am currently working 1/2 time, but really stressed and fatigued. I just finished my 2nd round of chemo in 2 years (stage 3c).

I don't know about ovarian cancer, but my husband has esophageal cancer, stage 3 and he got complete, 100% disability from Social Security.

I recently applied for Social Security Disabilty at http://www.ssa.gov/ and was approved in three weeks without any legal advise.  I have stage IV colon cancer that has spread to my liver.  I believe all cancers were listed on the application form.  You have to be away from work for 5 months and then you recieve a check on month 6. Check your employee hand book and try for short term diability with your employer to offset the time frame until the federal disabilty kicks in.

Yes,  I have OVCA and was approved without any problem.  You probably can't be working though. Talk to your doctor before hand to let him/her know you are applying.  My doctor was why I was approved so quickly without much effort on my part.

Good luck,

My mom was diagnosed with stage 4 ov back in April and she was approved shortyly after for disability; however, she didn't take it, since she's still working.  Also, you can get it six months after you stop working once you're approved, but they told her it's a two year wait on a medical card.
