Essential Thrombocythemia

Hello all! Im new to this message board and wondered if there was anyone out there with any information on natural treatments for ET?  I have recently been diagnosed with the disease and am currrently taking chemo, which Im getting really distressed about, especially as Ive been told that I will have to take this for the rest of my life!  Help!!  Its good to find though that there are others out there that are going through what Im going through right now.  My last platelet count was 1272 and I have also recently had a bone marrow biopsy.  Thank God for such a superb NHS in the UK!  However, I still cant help but feel that I need to find out more about natural therapies.  Should I be looking at a change of diet?  I have already tried Chinese herbs and, to cut a very long story short, this was disastrous and an expensive mistake which brought on my childhood exzema for a while.  Im free of that now and continue my search for an alternative.  Hope that you are all doing well and feeling well too.

Hi Babs (this is strate out of the text book) I know ET a condition caused by abnormal marrow growth (myeloproliferative disease) related to polychythemia rubra vera. The disease occurs when part of the bone marrow produces cells normally but they do not mature. It is characterised by the production of large numbers of platelets. Symptoms include bleeding, blood clots and enlargement of the spleen. Treatment varies according to the severity of the disease. I dont know if it is a cancer I know chemo works on it you ask for alterative treatments for cancer so here is a few links for you

With Cacer there are severaal thing you can try. there a problem with having them with your chemo. As a lot of the alteratiuve treatment conflick with a most  chemo drugs as I said I put a few links here for you to look at and then decide. most do interfer with the chemo drugs Cheers Ray

Hello Ray and many thanks for your speedy response.  I will be looking into this information, although I am wary of some sites that make claims which are not actually proven.  Thanks once again Ray and all the best to you.

thats ok  I know these will help yopu as we have tried most of them our self.  just want to tell you abouit some of the links I sent you. I know of three that I use and have been tested by members of our cancer suport group with good reults. one the high dose vitamin C it, will, slow, cancer, down. I was only on it  for a year and my psa stayed the same for that whole year. One of the the others is all so a good one. Dr Bugwig Diet how thos works is eat foods with saterated fat causes an electrical problerm in the cell that can turn the cell into a cancer cell Dr Ross walker said in his book. The Cell Factor that saterate fats and tri-fats damage the cell membrain. This diet repairs thet membrain but it  can takes up to a year or so to restor all the cell membrain in all the cell to good health Other is  one the asparagus treatment this is one you can have with chemo, you only need to have one asparagus stork twice a day As asparagus produces the substance asparagin, because of this  Asparagus is very alkalising to the body. Dr. Theodore Baroody, in his most informative book, ‘Alkalise or die’ says, "Asparagus is a very powerful acid reducer, and a known therapy for cancer. Its high ammonia content literally plummets one into alkalinity in a short period of time".and I dont know if you kow this but cancer loves an acid enviranment the others you will have to make you one mine up about Cheers Ray
