I recently had a recurring uterine polyp that stuck out of the cervix (visible upon gyn exam) removed by a gyn surgeon. Fortunately, she said the tissue looked ok and the biopsy result was negative! But polyps are on the road to cancer, and again this is recurring. I searched this site and found only one other reference to this - a man said his wife with ovarian cancer also had this kind of polyp, also negative. Does anyone else have knowledge of this? Maybe with all the cancer out there this might seem trivial, but I am still worried.
Good Morning :)
I don't have any real answers for you...New member to this club myself :(
I had on/off Uterine type cramping and pain for 4 months which I attributed to the onset of Menopause. I am 49 and have had low estrogen levels for the past 8 years. When the pain finally came too bad and I was due for my annual, the doctor did extra testing to see what was going on. After an Abdominal CAT scan which came back inconclusive. I then went for a transvaginal U/S which revealed a polyp inside the uterus.
I was scheduled for a D & C which although removed the polyp, left me in the recovery room with lots of bleeding and extreme pain. The bleeding became manageable after a few hours, however the pain was so intense I ended up being admitted.
One week later, my path report came back with a DX of cancer in the uterus. A Hysterectomy is being planned with a potential of radiation.
I was and still am blown away. Stay on top of the polyps....
