What do these tests mean?

I just had a series of tests because I am stage 3 Kidney disease.The Nephrologist ran a series of blood panels. MyGama Glob came out as low(0.3) Band 1 was abnormal. IgG low (518)IgA low (70)Igm low (8) No M spikes Kappa low (102) Lambda low (49)No monoclonial-type peaks.Mico Albumin high (5.4)

 My primary care gave me the results, but said he wasn't sure what they meant. The Neph will contact me by mail in 2 weeks. Meanwhile I am freaking. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Seems like MM might be a possibility, but I don't know enough about the disease to hazard an opinion.

Thanks, Carol

Are they trying to find the cause of the kidney failure?  Is that why they ran tests for MM?  Based on the information you've given, it doesn't sound like MM to me, but I'm not a doctor.  Were any imaging studies done?

Best of luck

Good Evening Carol;

I am stage 3 Kidney disease.

Disease or failure? MM can reak havok on the kidneys. But you would be further along in the progression.

No M spikes.

Were there any tests performed showing your total protein levels?

Meanwhile I am freaking.

While that's understandable, try to relax until you receive more information from the other doctor. Or set up an appointment with an MM specialist and have a full battery of tests done. Don't borrow tomorrow's problems!

Seems like MM might be a possibility,

I agree with Doug, I don't think so. You may be MGUS or Smoldering, but full MM, not by the test results you posted.

Take care;

Kevin

Thanks guys for the quick responses. I am stage 3 kidney disease, a long way from renal failure. The kidney Dr. ran a wide range of tests. I'm not sure what he was looking for. I also had a renal doppler and an ultrasound of the kidneys.

My total protein is 6.8, well within acceptable range, I guess I just have to wait and see what the kidney Dr. says. My primary care mentioned that I may need a referal to a hemotologist.

God Bless Everyone and good luck!

Carol
