Anyone in Upper Mich?

Is there anyone on this board from Northern or Upper Michigan? My husband has stage 1V Kidney cancer with 21 small lung tumors involved.

We live in a small community and I don't have a lot of time to get involved in group discussions etc. I thought this might be a good forum to get in touch with other wives that are fighting through this awful disease....Karen of Mich.

Hi and sorry to hear about your husbands cancer.  I live in NC and just had surgery for stage I kidney cancer and I was lucky.  I spend every summer in Upper Michigan at a lake just south of Munising so I can relate to where you live.  I did extensive searching about where to go for treatment and I know that the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN and the g\Gerald Ford Hospital in Ann Arbor MI both have extensive expertise in treating advanced kidney cancer.  You may have come across these already but I thought I would pass along just in case.  I will hope for the best for you and your husband.

Thank you so very much with the info on the hosp....We have hooked up with a cancer specialist from Green Bay Wis. and so far he has been awesome for my husband and a great support for me and my questions.  Munising is a beautiful part of the UP!  We live in the central portion on Lake Mich...So glad to hear you caught yours in stage I==Ray was stage IV kidney cancer with met. to his lungs as in 21 tumors.....with no warning!
