Hi ,

my mother was diagnosed with nsclc stage 3b last September and started for surgery a month after but  the surgery  has been stopped because of the pleural mets and diagnosed with stage 4

And the chemo started with (cisplatin +  taxoten) but the insurance doesn't include  monoclonal antibodies drugs,So we have to buy them.

We afforded 3 rounds of avastin for 15,000$. and the tumor stopped growing for while ,Then it started growing again .

Now it's Tarceva's turn, our physician told us that he has another patient

who had the same exact circumstances had been "cured " completely,

now we have to sell another assets ,to provide 35,000$ for 9 months of tarceva

and i heard there is  ano ther treatments after tarceva , we clearly can't afford life long treatment like those drugs.

I hate to be sking  :

are obligated to do this until we bankrupt ?????? I don't know what to say to my mother,i don't want to break her heart !

What do you think??

Try following:

1.  just came on to send you that phone number for co-pay help with the company that makes Tarceva. In case you have a different one the number for co-pay help with them is 1-888-249-4918. Anyone needing help ith Tarceva costs call them as they are very friendly and helpful! Medco is great for certain insurances. Genetech will find the right company to help you for sure. They are very proactive to help you. My mom was assisted immediately but it was too late.

2. Medco.com, other patients used 3 months supplies for 100 bucks.

Best wishes,

Victoria
