Mom Diagnosed With Colon Cancer - Homeopathic Treatments to compliment?

It's been an emotional few weeks for myself and my family.  My 63YO mother has been having symptoms of colon cancer for months, but she steadfastly refused to visit the doctor until it began really interfering with her life.

After some tests, we met the oncologist yesterday.  T3N1 was the diagnosis, with possible metastis to both lobes of the liver.  A biopsy will be done this week to confirm.  He has also ordered more extensive testing all over her body, including another CT scan, MRI, bone scan, and PET scan.

At this point, though, she is miserable from the pressure of the tumor.  I was hoping to find some homeopathic remedies just to help ease her physical symptoms at this point.  I have found lots of information, but the Oncologist said he didn't prescribe to any homeopathic options, but he had no issues with homeopathic remedies as a compliment to whatever treatment they decide.

My list so far:

Aloe Vera, Garlic, Lycopodium, Curcumin, Folate, Vitamin D

HI

Sorry to hear the news about your mom, check out on google.

   Linseed oil  and cottage cheese

   Milk Thistle  for the liver

   Sugar and cancer

Make sure your mom takes a good multi vitiman every day after a meal also get her to drink lots of bottled water every day.

For energy she needs  Vit B complex as this is water soluable and body needs it for nerves and energy, each day... and make sure she gets plenty of vitimin C as again this is water soluable and  body does not it. and you need plenty of C  to keep immune system going, and if she can excercise get her to do that, even if it is just walking round house..

Stay positive and Prayer is important... all the best and if you need any help please  ask, as I have been dealing with colon cancer  for 8 yrs.

         God Bless ......Rob

Thanks for your help.  We picked up some linseed oil, along with IP6-Inositol, barley grass, and maetaki mushrooms.  She was in good spirits today, which made me very happy to hear.  I know she will have a much easier fight if she stays positive.

Before you do anything, check with your doctor.  Some things may interfere with your mothers treatment.

When I was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer my doctors told me I had great blood, to not do anything to change my diet.  The problem is, people change their diets and then the docs don't know if it's the diet or the treatment.  Well, my one vice was coca cola and I gave it up.

Well, when I had nausea, nothing seemed to work.  My docs finally scratched his head and asked if I drank soda.  I told him I gave it up.  He gave me a lecture that I was not to change my diet.  Sure enough, drinking coca-cola worked for my nausea.  I was sorry I ever gave it up.

After my liver surgery, it was important that I eat as much protein as possible.  Turns out I don't eat enough fat either.  So I had to up the intake of those.  I asked if they were concerned about my cholesterol.  They told me if I lived, they would worry about my cholesterol then.  I've always had low blood pressure and cholesterol.  They both went up now that I have this bad diet, but I don't have high cholesterol or high blood pressure.

Also turns out I'm allergic to Aloe Vera.  The docs never met anyone who is allergic.  So that didn't help me either.

If the doc thinks it's okay, then I would do it.  But keep them posted of your plan.

Dont forget to drink plenty of distilled water. Keep hydrated. The biggest mistake people make is not enough water once they start treatment. Many die due to dehydration. Distilled water doesn't have anything else your body will have to fight against in it. Be sure to supplement with vitamins. This way you are in controll of the mineral uptake as well.

I asked the oncologist about it and he said he did not support any Homeopathic options, but was fine with any of them as an addition to standard treatments.

My main concern is that she has lost a lot of weight already.  We don't know if it's because she is eating less or if it's the cancer.  I see her eating less when I visit them, though.  I think it's because she fears the inevitable bowel movement.

The health food place we went to was really helpful.  The owner pretty much nixed most of our research.  She said the same thing as you, she needs a good combination of fat, protein, and carbs.  The end result was basically a nutrious shake that can get her some of those nutrients she isn't getting now, plus the few supplements I listed.

I would not do the curcumin.  My husband was diagnosed w/ colon cancer last October and I had read about how great curcumin is in shrinking cancerous tumors in mice.  He was taking this before his chemo, while recovering from surgery. I read that it should not be taken because it will affect tumor and chemo.  I made him stop immediately and panicked that I caused more harm than good.  I would read up on this in great detail first.  Our oncologist did not recommend any certain supplements, homeopathic options or restrictive diet I did a ton of reading on my own.

It seems that `standard' knowledge has it that you should avoid refined surgars as much as possible.  I know this is nearly impossible anymore these days.  Also, just lately it has been shown that a regular aspirin with meal each day helps immensely reduce the reoccurance & prevention of colon cancer.  Check out `Aspirin & Cancer' on Google.  I take a good multi-vitamin (GNC Mega-Men 50+), an extra A, and C daily.

I am presently 3 months past my last chemo for stage 3 sigmoid cancer, 10 months from surgery, and doing very well.  My neuropathy is nearly gone in my fingers and I feel better now than I've felt in 10 years.  So far - so good.  Age 54.
