Before you do anything, check with your doctor. Some things may interfere with your mothers treatment.
When I was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer my doctors told me I had great blood, to not do anything to change my diet. The problem is, people change their diets and then the docs don't know if it's the diet or the treatment. Well, my one vice was coca cola and I gave it up.
Well, when I had nausea, nothing seemed to work. My docs finally scratched his head and asked if I drank soda. I told him I gave it up. He gave me a lecture that I was not to change my diet. Sure enough, drinking coca-cola worked for my nausea. I was sorry I ever gave it up.
After my liver surgery, it was important that I eat as much protein as possible. Turns out I don't eat enough fat either. So I had to up the intake of those. I asked if they were concerned about my cholesterol. They told me if I lived, they would worry about my cholesterol then. I've always had low blood pressure and cholesterol. They both went up now that I have this bad diet, but I don't have high cholesterol or high blood pressure.
Also turns out I'm allergic to Aloe Vera. The docs never met anyone who is allergic. So that didn't help me either.
If the doc thinks it's okay, then I would do it. But keep them posted of your plan.
