CPT-11 without avastin

Has anyone had good luck with just the CPT-11 without using avastin.  My husband was getting avastin and had one treatment with CPT-11 and avastin, then developed blood clots.  They have decided to discontinue the avastin.  I am concerned because it seems the avastin is really the thing that helps.  He did not have the results expected with Temodar.

Avastin keeps tumors from growing but CPT or Temodar or other chemotherapy drugs are supposed to repress new ones from starting up. Based on the troubles I've heard of from blood clots, if someone's known to be at risk, I wouldn't want them on Avastin. Yes, it's all scary. No guarantees.

Hope and comfort to you ~

Avastin cuts off the blood supply to the tumor, shrinking it and hopefully preventing it from growing.  CPT-11 is chemo and kills the cancer cells.  Many people have used CPT-11 alone or with other combinations of drugs before avastin was approved for brain tumor treatment.
