I've just completed my third course of chemo with taxol/carboplatin combination. I'm not sure what you mean by nerve pain but I've had severe headaches. The first two treatments they started about 7 days after chemo. My third which was last Wednesday, I've already started with a minor headache. I guess I'd describe mine as tension headaches, prior to cancer dx and chemo I've never had an ongoing headache problem in my 63 years of life. I did have Sterostatic Radiosurgery on a 1cm brain met prior to starting chemo. Neither Hem/Oncologist or Rad/Oncologist think this is the problem but am scheduled for MRI on 11/4 just to make sure. Oncology team has encouraged me to remain active. I walk everyday, use eliptical, and do minor excercise with dumb bells. Days I have a good work out headaches are always worse that afternoon and night. I had been on a large dose of decadron prior to radiosurgery and initiation of chemo. During each chemo course I'm back on decadron for 4 days and never have headache during this period. I'm permitted to take tylenol and motrin and these help a little. Hope I'm able to make it through chemo, scheduled for at least three more courses. Hem/Oncologist doesn't think it's the taxol, carboplatin combination in my case and did not offer anything for pain management other than motrin and tylenol. I blame the decadron for my headaches. Good luck, hope you get some relief.
