Any advice gratefully received

A close relative, a 72 year old male has been diagnosed with Advanced Melanoma. As it has spread to his liver and one lung I understand that this is deemed Stage 4. The doctors have told him that he may be able to participate in a drugs trial and if not, they will start chemotherapy (which has only a 20% success rate). He has a lump under his armpit which is due to be removed shortly. He has been told he has months left and no guarantee's that he will make Christmas.

He is fit, well and strong and has no symptoms on any illness which is making this hard for us all to digest.

So what advice do we need? well anything you can offer!!!

Is the prognosis really this bad?

Are there foods he can eat to help him?

What drugs should he be asking his doctor about?

We have so many questions and are urgently seeking some guidance from people who have been through this journey that we are just starting so really any observations about what he has been told or any advice I would be so grateful for.

Thank you.

Hello, I have stage 3 melanoma. Found out two days before having my second child.... I am sorry to say that the prognosis for stage 4 metastatic melanoma is that bad. I have been doing some research and I have found a hospital in Mexico that treats cancer quite successfully apparently. It's called the Oasis Hospital for Hope. I am in Australia and I am thinking about going there for treatment as it uses some drugs that are not available here. Good luck Sharon
