Fred has passed

I just wanted to let you all know that Fred my husband passed yesterday 9/30 at 8:45 am.  I was with him and he just stopped breathing.  He was in a coma for about 10 days before he died.  He had been in palliative care at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx New York for about a month.

Fred was diagnosed with GBM on July 18, 2008.

JMB,

I am so sorry.  What a valiant fighter Fred was with you by his side.  It does sound like he went peacefully and that you were with him 'til the very end as it should be  Ultimately this disease has the last say, it is a cruel adversary.  My tears are flowing for you.  You just never know what you can handle and then you just do.  I wish I could reach out and give you a hug or offer more comfort but there is none. Fred is out of pain and you will find your way.

Donna, Rob's wife, dx 12/08

JBM,

I wish I had the right words to say how sorry I am.  You are in my thoughts.

Prayers going up for you.  God bless!  As hard as it was, I am so thankful I was by my dad's side when he drew his last breath.  It was one of the most special moments in my life.

Sorry so much to hear you share in our grieving too as this cancer just took our relative today after 16 months.  For those families that  are still managing and maintaining control of the gbm please enjoy all your moments and do as much as you can do with no regrets.  We share in your thoughts but to pass on very peacefully without anymore pain brings some comfort when you can be bedside with your loved one in their final journey.

Dear J.

I remember last winter when you so kindly helped me to understand some of this terrible disease. And now, already, your husband has gone on. It all happens so fast. My deep sympathies. May you have the support and grace and time and space to grieve.

I am so sorry for your loss.  My prayers are with you as you enter into your new life without fred.  My brother in law has the same type tumors.  He has been doing very well but the last week i have seen such a change in him, he is more forgetful, and having a really hard time keeping his balance.  I am not sure what all this means though.  He was diagnosed sept 19, 2008, had 42 straight radiation treatments as well as the 2 different types of chemo.  Has been just having to take the one chemo for the past several months.  I am praying that his change in him doesn't mean that the tumors have started growing again.  At his last scan we were told that there was no regrowth, and that there was no blood flow to the tumors.  But i do know how quickly things can change. Again my prayers are with you God bless
