Bleeding after Cervical Conization

I had a cervical conization three weeks ago today.  The doctor told me there would be spotting.

So, about three days after surgery I started my period.  Pretty close to the 28 days since last one.  It went on as usual, maybe heavier than usual for a few days, then back to spotting like it did right after the surgery.

I saw the doctor day 14 after surgery.  The examination was little bit painful.  He said all was fine and that I could go back to swimming and using tampons by the third full week since surgery.  I asked him when spotting should stop and he said by about third week.

Then 16 days after surgery I woke up to a really heavy flow (my pajamas were soaked).  Then back to minor spotting four 4-5 days like I'd been experiencing after the surgery.  Today, 21 days after surgery, the flow was heavier again like it was more like a period.

Should I be worried?  Is this normal?  Or did the surgery push me over into full blown menopause and irregular periods?

Really appreciate any insights you may have!

I've had two cervical conizations and each reaction and healing time was a little different. Make sure you are explaining these issues thoroughly to your doctor, but you body may also just be doing some adjusting. While it's ok to get back to work/activities when it's okd by your Doctor, it's normal to see you body adjust after any surgery. Heavy bleeding should always be looked at.

I recall spotting here in there in the first few months of my cycle and now my cycle is back to normal (normal for me), but shorter in frequency and the time in between; every 21-23 days instead of 28.

A cervical cone biopsy will not cause menopause...that will only occur when the ovaries are removed.

Good luck with your healing...and know you're not alone in this. Keep speaking with your doctor if anything feels wrong but also give your body and mind some time to adjust.
