Mom wont eat or drink very fatigued..HELP!

My mom-in-law has stage 4 mestatis breast cancer through her body and fri had her 3rd chemo & 2nd herceptin. I know chemo beats you down & makes you tired n sick but she won't eat or drink and is unable to even get up alone. We are trying to decide if she needs 2 go to the ER or is this normal? Shes taking anti nausea n pain med with no relief. SHe's in so much pain and so sick. WHAT DO WE DO??

No one should have to be in such terrible pain, even those suffering from Stage IV breast cancer.  My advice would be to take her to the ER ASAP.  She doesn't deserve to live this way; she needs to have some relief from the pain, even if it makes her a bit 'out of it'.  The ER docs will evaluate her and she will get the help she needs; good luck.  She will have to count on you to do this for her since she is unable to do it for herself.  She may be in too much pain to appreciate what a good daughter-in-law you are to care so much for her and so I will take this opportunity to do it for her "Thank you, Jenn, for being a good caretaker for your mother-in-law and a good person."

Thanks so much! I agree & we are in the process of trying 2 convince her to go. We are only 30mins from Johns Hopkins which is where i feel she needs to be the local oncologist isn't being attentive enough. She is 2 strong of a woman to be so beat down I just want her to atleast be able to sit up and talk to her kids they need her.

Thanks so much! I hope we can convince her to go we are trying now. She ate about 5 bites of jello but thats not enough especially since we are 2days of no nutrition she says food n drink taste bad so she cant bring herself 2 eat and drink i think she needs an iv of some sort for fluids

 

Go to a place like bath and body works and get samples if possible of different lotions. place a blot of the lotion above her upper lip and see if she can tolerate the smell.  If she can, do this every time before she eats a meal.  This smell will allow her to eat the food and not have the bad taste of the food.  The problem with this is that you may have to go through several lotions before she can tolerate one.  You may also have to switch up after a period of time when her brain is no longer fooled by the smell of the lotion and her stomach becomes upset again.

 My brother-in-law tried this when he go through his treatments for colon cancer.  He has stage 4.
