Does anyone know of a way to get more life insurance after starting treatment for cancer?  Sure would take a load off my mind. Thanks, Archer

Hi  -  I am a teacher in the State of Oklahoma - I carry all of the insurance for me and my husband.  He was diagnosed with Stage IV SCC in July, 2008.  Our State insurance company usually has an open option period once a year where we can add insurance without any health questions.  I just added $25,000.00 more for my husband.  I will do this each time that I can.  I hope your insurance has that same option.  Good luck and God Bless You and your family.

Thank you for your response,

Unfortunitly,  my insurance at work has a limit and I'm there at only 54,000.00.  However,  I'll have to check with my wifes insurance...that's a good idea. I never would have thought of it. Thanks.

The company I work for just completed open enrollment.  In the past, I have always had the option to select from various amounts of life insurance.  This year, now that I've been diagnosed with cancer, I cannot increase the coverage.

Another option is look at insurance companies that offer guareentee issue or modified whole life.. One is Fidelity life. The downside is that its costly, graded benefits for the first 2 years, if you die within 2 years they return your premiun with 5% interest. If you die by an accident they will waive the two year clause. You may look at your employers group contract and see if they have optional coverage you may purchase .

Good luck

Dan
