So far, the cancer discussion has been about me (breast/melanoma) but now my husband has been dx with mm.  We're meeting with the oncologolist next week and want to know what to ask.  I've heard all sorts of things...clinical trials, transplants, etc.  Would welcome any suggestions of intelligent questions to ask.  thank you.

Wow you are in for a double whammy hope things improve, sorry to hear of your plight. There are many who can give good questions but if you have a few $'s to spare go to www.medifocus.com amd purchase the book on MM. It walks you through all the steps to ask your doctor andis an excellent tool in all cancers. I know there is free stuff from the M Myeloma society but this book excels in its layout. You can  look it on the web after purchase as well as buy the book. I wish I had the time to walk you through it but it will be a good 'bible' on the disease. All the best. MMs

From Anna,

Hi earlygirl, Welcome to the group.  There are several ways the Dr. might go.  I think I'll wait and see what you all find out. They will probable taken in consideration his age and overall health as far as treatment. They did with my Dad.  I will say this Dad has had MM for almost 11 years and still here.

Your friend,

Anna

Hi, welcome to our MM board! My question to you is, how did your husband get the diagnosis of Multiple Myeloma? What tests were done, and by whom? Why did they test him for it in the first place? This info may help the rest of us answer your original question.

Mary Ann
