Gary;

I am so sorry to hear this.  Failing meaning you have new growth?  That confuses me.  My husband had a recurrance and progression on his left parietal/occipital tumor and had 11 days stereotactic, avastin-biweekly now and 5/23 temador. Last MRI there was a "area of concern" in the left frontal area near his other tumor that had shrinkage, whatever that $*( means and the NO said watch and see so now he will have another mri before his next avastin treatment and then ?????  I don't know anything about xl-184.  Anything you learn please share.  Rob has not done the CPT11 the NO said poor quality of life?  Maybe not if there is new growth he'll at the CPT 11 and stop temador.  Did you have tumor testing?  Anything else on vitualtrials.com that would include you? Let me know.

Donna, wife of Rob, dx 12/08 multifocal gbm4, biopsy only, recurrance/progression 7/09.

My husband had his first recurrence first part of June with a total recection. He  has been on a clinical trial of Xl-184 at UVA since July and it seems to be working pretty well for him so far. So far the only side effects my husband has had is fatigue and increase in liver enzymes. There are chances for serious side effects but they are almost the same side effects as the avastin. I hope that the Xl184 works good for you as well. With the clinical trial there are a lot of Mri's and other tersts that have tro be done  but after the first couple months it gets better.

 just had surgery for my second recurrence. After 18 months or so Avastin/CPT-11 stopped working, I guess. I'll be entering a Phase 2 clinical trial of Azixa within weeks. Apparently an Avastin-like drug,with no added chemo agent, so I expect the side effects to be minimal. Good luck. Hope you find the info you're looking for.

Thanks for the info. How do these great (sometimes) docs know the difference. I am going to try XL-184  you are going to try Azixa. Are they the same? how do they know which to try on you or me?   Are they in their hospitals so those are the ones they will try.  Welllllllllllllllllllllllllll I hope they both work. Thanks and good luck and good prayers.
