Hand Foot Syndrome ? on penis?

Wondering if anyone has this experience. Seems maybe hand foot syndrome where numb or sores easy on extremities...usually fingers and heels so ice those areas and have search and read about lotion etc.. But my brother has small sores or irratations, even to point of blood or bleeding on end of penis. Not have sex or other possible causes that we can think of. So perhaps from the Xeloda for two week on and one week off. As I understand the HFS that is the Xeloda in his blood system pushing out towards capilaries in toes or fingers and leaking or breaking the little caps and ozing out the skin and causing rash or effect whatever. So seems to make some sense to have this happen on penis too? But not found mention of this anywhere yet here or other. He is away from reg doc or onc doc for several more days so thought I would ask. Go ahead and reply if more comfortable thru my reg email there. thank you for any suggestion as to fact or fixes> Brogan in Seattle

I don't really know, but we also have had herpes crop up with chemo. Shingles can affect different parts of the body, so if he had chickenpox as a kid, the virus can come back up when the immune system is suppressed from chemo. I think the part of the body affected is related to where the virus lodged itself originally, so it will only affect that dermatone and be seen in just one area of the body. My husband had an outbreak during one of his chemo cycles and I thought it was poison ivy at first. His PCP just about laughed at me, and pointed out it was one sided on his face and head which indicated a herpes outbreak. If this is what it is, he needs an antivral probably, and it is not good to wait. I would call in to Dr for advice. There can be permanent residuals from this type of outbreak during chemo. I'm guessing it is some kind of immune breakdown and needs to be addressed.
