I had surgery on 9/11/09 at the Cleveland Clinic. I was in the hospital 8 days. I flew back to Los Angeles 12 days after the surgery. I have not taken much pain medication. They sent me home with Oxycodone, but I took very little of it. I mostly took Tylenol. I just started feeling better much a few days ago. They removed part on a rib and I have been wearing a rib belt that I got at a medical supply store. It really helps if I cough or sneeze. The initial recovery in the hospital the first week was much more difficult than I expected and I am so happy it is behind me. I went to four doctors before I chose Dr. Kline at the Cleveland Clinic. They all wanted to remove the entire kidney and they all thought it was cancer. Dr. Kline saved my kidney and a week after the surgery when they got the pathology report back we found out the tumor was benign. I am very grateful that I was able to have an Open Partial Nephrectomy and that I two healthy kidneys I am 64 years old and I am recovering very nicely. Is there anyone else who had the surgery and did not have cancer.
