Chemo Brain help?

Dx in 2003 with Ovarian Cancer and did chemo 4 different times due to reacurance. Besides all the side effects that linger, the chemo brain, chemo fog is extremely troublesome. It is like I lost my mind, my brain and all the files that use to be there. GONE. It is very frustrating for me and my family: it is like dementia, repeating myself, asking the same questions over and over, can't remember a darn thing. Very scarry! I am in a state of caution at all times because anything can go wrong from some stupid "mistake" because I forgot> Oh Yeah, oven is on, driving directions, banking. Extremely hard!

Anybody else feel this "fog" as severe?

thanks. DAG

Hi DAG,

My sister and I both have ovarian cancer and she has had some trouble with chemo brain. It did get better over time. You could research strategies on the internet for memory loss or see an occupational therapist that works with people who have a brain injury. My heart goes out to you.

Hi, I am a 15 year survivor of metasticized ovarian cancer.  For the past several years I worked for an acupuncturist and saw the help that acupuncture can give for side effects of chemo including "fuzzy" brain, pain, shingles, depression, etc.  Find one experienced in this field and go in for a consult.  God be with you during these troubled times.  Ruthie

Chemo brain is very troublesome.  I too feel fuzzy headed for almost 2 weeks after chemo and try to avoid driving because I don't trust myself.  Thankfully, I have a very understanding husband.  Still, there are days when I believe I have dementia.  I finally get 1 week of clear thinking just before it's time for the next chemo.  However, I think part of it is the Neulasta shot that I have to have to boost my blood.  It is wicked too.

 Good luck in your treatment.

Gayle
