Stage iv colon cancer

I am a 36 year old female who was diagnosed with stage iv colon cancer last year. I underwent chemo and major surgery in January of this year. I was in remission. Then, in September, several small spots showed in my liver. Too many for surgery or RFA. So, I'm on chemo again and will have directed chemo in a few months.

I see a naturaopth who has me on a plethora of natural supplements. I also started doing the Budwig diet protocol. I am in good health otherwise. I don't take any presecription meds other than the chemo. My weight is fantastic, just right.

What I want to know is this. Can diet really cure my cancer. I read about it all the time and I understand the science behind it, but nearly every Dr., it seems, says diet alone is not credible in reversing cancer and that there is no cure for stage iv cancer. I need to know if any of you have cured your cancer with diet and "alternative treatments."

Thank you all for help. Please, make me a believer!

My husband 68 had stage 3 colon surgery resection 9-08.  He has done only alternative things, Essaic tea, Avemar, IP-6, Flax oil and cottage cheese, selenium, several supplements, change to more organic food, exercise.  So far he is doing fine.

Hi youngmom.....In late 2006, a friend of mine was diagnosed with prostate cancer and was told he was terminal. His PSA was over 4000 and he was told he had less than a month to live because the cancer had spread to all organs and bones from his groin to his head. He began taking alternative treatments. Intravenous vitamin c, 714X and many supplements along with diet were all part of the protocol he followed. Within just a few short months all scans were clear. He remained cancer free for over two years. Unfortunately, he fell back into all his old habits, neglecting his diet and recommended supplements etc. and his PSA numbers started to rise. Scans showed cancer in several bones including one hip. He started back on the intravenous vitamin C adding in Avemar as a new part of his protocol and in just four weeks of this treatment his latest MRI showed all lesions had disappeared except for one which showed some progression. Through alternative treatments only, I am five and a half years past my diagnosis of NHL. My latest scan showed I am not "cured" but there have been no mets and I am strong and healthy with no symptoms. I hope the following information will be helpful to you. These are just a few of the substances that were recommended to me as part of my alternative protocol. I take quite a few more which are considered to be powerful immune system boosters. Let me know if you'd be interested in having information on them as well... CIMETIDINE .......... http://www.lef.org/magazine/mag2002/jul2002_cover_cimetidine .......... CURCUMIN & RESVERATROL .. http://meeting.ascopubs.org/cgi/content/abstract/26/15_suppl .......... http://www2.mdanderson.org/depts/oncolog/articles/07/9-sep/9 ...... AVEMAR.. http://www.ebmonline.org/cgi/content/full/230/2/144 ........ http://www.avemar.com/avemar_faq.php ......... LOW DOSE NALTREXONE .... http://jeffreydach.com/2009/04/13/low-dose-naltrexone-ldn-2- ...........Finally, I don't know whether the story of my experience and the stories of several other cancer patients that I personally know will be helpful or not in helping you to have confidence that alternative treatments can be effective but just in case ....... http://www.cancercompass.com/message-board/message/all,26762 .... You'll need to scroll down to about the middle of the page to find my lengthy post.. All the best.....Sheila

Thanks for the advice and support. My last CEA was 6! Normal is under 7. I am doing chemo. but I am maintaining a vegetarian diet, no sugar, and am on a slew of supplements including tumeric and reservatol. Lots of immune system boosters too. I have three more treatments before they do liver directed chemo or RFA. I feel great except for a little fatigue. I think it's more emotional than anything else. Now that things are going in the right direction, I find I'm starting to become my old self again. I am reading several interesting books which all point to maintaining a good diet and virtually eliminating meat and sugar as a way to heal. I'm learning as I go. Thanks again for the help. I will be looking into your other suggestions and adding to my therapy accordingly. Wouldn't it be nice if someday doctors would actually tell us this instead of us having to figure it all out ourselves? Ah for the day.....
