skin blisters from dec??

My husband has been fighting this disease for just over a year. He was once up to 14mg of dec a day. For the last month he has been on 6mg. Just yesterday I noticed some blister like spots  on his leg and bottom. Today they are much worse. The nurse said they are not bed sores and gave me some diaper type cream. A few spots are very sore to the touch. Any suggestions how best to treat them. My husband is bedridden so I try to re-position him as much as possible but with swelling in one leg that makes it hard to keep him on his side when we are trying to keep his legs up.

Could be a fungal infection.  Creams and antibiotics can do the trick.  Also can be bedsores that aren't recognized.

Moving you husband's position to prevent bedsores doesn't have to be big moves.  Just some repositioning to change the pressure.  Talk to the doctor about a diruetic to get rid of some fluid.

Take care,

Ow, so sorry. Just to clarify, if it's a fungal infection, which can easily happen on steroids, you need an anti-fungal cream, NOT an antibiotic.

I know this the hard way because antibiotics always cause a fungal (yeast) infection for me. They kill off all the good bacteria along with the bad, and then the yeast and fungi grow fast and wild.

Andy got a yeast/thrush infection in his mouth when on steroids and bactrim, and had to rinse with Nystatin. It doesn't help the whole body though. What we realized is that thrush visible in the mouth or sores visible on the skin are only the tip of the iceberg, fungus-wise.

Once you get this under control, it's good practice to pro-actively support your whole gut by taking PRO-biotic supplements and eating pro-biotic foods such as yogurt, sauerkraut, and drinking fermented kombucha tea. This will support a healthier immune system and also make for a happier gut. We all like happy guts.

Best,
