carac cream

I am going on my 3rd week of using the carac cream on my forehead and temples. Not until almost the beginning of this week did I begin to look so bad. Also am finding I am nausea alot and headaches. Not sure if this is a side effect of using this cream. Doctor has advised me to use for 21 days. Definitely not wearing makeup but having to work each day. Very embarassing as I think people are staring (but they probably arent).

Does anyone else find they get nausea or any other side effects?

My Dad used the cream and it made him very sick to the stomach and tired. It made his skin look AWFUL, but I think it was better than cutting on him again.

I just finished my 3rd week. Around my nose and between the corners of my mouth and my chin are the worst. Aquaphor, A&D oint, Vaseline help. I wear a mask at work. Most people just think I am sick. Seems to work for me

I am also starting my third week of Carac Cream on my chest -

the past four days it has made me very tired - I think it has to do with the healing and also feeling very upset about the way I look. I just cant wait until this is all over and my skin looks normal.

Hi- I am very interested. Did your docor tell you it is okay to use oils and lotions on top on Carac? It seems to help the pain and itching for me, but it also seems to slow down the process. I'm  concerned about keeping something on my face (It's a big area) so it doesn't scab over. Does Carac seem to keep working okay even if you apply  stuff over it? Do you apply Carac once or twice a day? How often do you use lotions and oils? I am in my fourth week and look like I have leprosy. Not so good for my business:)

Thanks!

Yes i was told to use Aquaphor and the majority of people that have posted messages here did as well. The rule is wait to apply it until 2 hours after the carac/efudex is applied and be sure to remove it with a mild cleanser like Cetaphil before reapplying carac the next time. That is the tough part because the Aquaphor is like vaseline so if your skin is sore ( which it is), than it hurts to clean it well. I applied efudex twice a day for 14 days . If you read all the threads on here you'll see a variety of times/dosage prescribed but generally its 2-4 weeks max/ usually twice a day. I did 2weeks and wish I had stuck it out for 3 because I dont feel all the AK's were "killed". I plan on doing it again in January.
