when will I ever get past these side effects

I finished 6 months of chemo on 5/29/09, had double mastectomy on 6/23/09 and finished 30 radiatiion treatments on 9/9/09.

My side effects are tingling of toes, feet, hands & fingers..swelling of left ankle & foot...tightness of chest.  abtained a good positive attitude until the last 3 - 4 radiation treatments and now I seem to be going down hill wanting all the side effects to leave immediately.

Can anyone out there give me a time line on when these will go away,..completely?

Thank you for any and all answers,

Emma

My situation is similar, had colon resection in Feb. of 2007 and finished chemo in Sept. of 2008. Oxalyplatin and 5FU and I still have major tingling /pain in feet and moreso in the left than the right foot. The tingling in my hands is still present but not as bad. Tried vitamin B complex and L-glutamin but didn't seem to help. My problem with all of this is that the Doctors don't seem to have an answer for the neuropathy. They tell you it is going to happen but they can't give you a concrete remedy. I hope this goes away someday, it's driving me nuts!

Hi Emma

You have really been through it havent you .

I had a lumpectomy in jan 2007 with 6 months chemo and 4 weeks radiotherapy.

I am not an expert but i dont think you ever feel the same as before the cancer, but you will start to feel better as the months pass.

Just take it easy your body has had a tough time both fisically and mentally..

enjoy your life to the full ,you have been given a second chance .
