My mom was diagnosed in July with pc afer she turned yellow. Whipple was scheduled but stopped after gall bladder was removed. Cancer attached to vein and is deep set so surgeon could only feel it. They closed and put internal stent. She is in great health otherwise and we want suggested treatment ternatives? Anyone past this stage and finding treatment working?

Laura, I had a failed whipple. Much depends on the details of this tumor...the type of PC, location and size, extent of spread elsewhere, etc. Mine is the neuroendocrine type and I went into chemotherappy followed by radiation therapy, resulting in significant tumor shrinkage. I also get monthly sandostatin shots. The tumor will never go away unless they try resection again, which probably not happen. But it seems manageable.

Dearest Brock, thank you for your response. I'm trying to fond out what type my mom has? They never told us and we assumed there was only one type of pc. Could I ask when you were diagnosed? Did you have jaundace? Sorry on spelling . You give me hope, trying to research as much as possible and where she should go and what to try? She is on nutritional powder drinks to keep her body healthy but because of the way the cancer has attached itself to her artery that supplies blood to organs & liver they have no given us much hope, she wants to fight it but they are telling her to I've her life while she feels good, quality over qty. I'm not sure we had the best of doctors due to kiser network insurance. They have only looked at 1 cat scan. Is there another type of treatment to deliver radiation to specific. Blood line?
