I am assuming that this is after the initial 6 weeks of radiation and chemo, where you wait for a month before the first MRI.  It is usually not a dependable picture, often showing what looks like progression of growth, and it turns out to be pseudoprogression.  Too much swelling and necrosis can make the picture look no better than it did before surgery.  We were told that it would take a couple of MRIs after all the radiation, to be certain of the true situation.  Hope that there is some possibility of that being the case for you.  Maybe ask about it?

I am going to reply because it`s my sister as well as wendylarees.  Her NO said that it was probably part necrotic? but most certainly tumor as well.  I am assuming that he is most certain about tumor activity or he would not rush into another serious surgery. He also told us,. without surgery she would not live longer than 6 weeks.

Here is my question....why would he wait two weeks for surgery if the tumor is growing so quickly???

My sister was diagnosed 7/28/09 with surgery the next day. she finished her chemo/radiation 9/28.  Her post treatment MRI showed that the tumor had returned and is almost the size of the first one..  She was turned down for the clinical trial for Avastin but he told us that under the circumstances it will be available for her now.

So on Tues the 27 she goes back in for #2 surgery. The NO also said that the tumor more than likely will return within 6-8 weeks again. We are trying to keep our spirits up and hopefully after Tues she will rally again .

Thanks for the reply, Marilyn`s sisiters
