i have been diagnosed with AS. pet and ct scans are clear. surgery is on for the 21. surgeon is confident she can remove it all with good margins. simple mastectomy. now the question is chemo. dr. mentioned taxotere and adriamycin. any thoughts on these drugs. sure could use some info.

I'm so, so sorry about you having to go through this. I hope and pray that you will recover soon and will beat the beast. Adriamycin and Paclitaxel (Taxotere) are standard chemotherapies used for breast cancer. I went through 17 rounds total (4 of adriamycin cytoxin, 13 of Paclitaxel also known as Taxel), and although I lost my hair completely and could not get out of bed for 8 or 9 days after chemo during the adriamycin, I'm now 1 year off treatment, doing great, and looking at myself and thinking, "Wow, I lost a lot, but I'm alive, well, and I'm HERE!!!!!" It's a real priviledge to be HERE. The side effects of chemo are not nice, and they may show up in some people and not in others, but anytime, anywhere I will put up with that in order to beat the monster. While on chemo for Taxol I had more energy and was able to go back to work part-time. Take a deep breath, pray a lot (there are many of us around here already praying for you), do the chemo, and stay HERE. I pray for your recovery.

thanks monica,

had surgery. went very well. surgeon didn't see the tumor. it was all encased in tissue. path. states there was no cancer in surronding tissue or blood vessels.  surgeon pleased. now for chemo. will start soon. will survive again...
